1a Bridge Building on Dry Land
1A bridge building

Bridge building was a lot of fun as our team all worked together very well while enjoying ourselves also.

Everyone had an input in building the bridge; no one gave up or slacked off leaving others to do more work. Time set a challenge as most of us in group 1A didn’t know how to tie knots at first so we had to be taught. Also, our tripods for our bridge fell apart as the ropes weren’t knotted tightly enough and the tripods also kept falling whenever we tried to make them stand so we had to re-build one of them and fiddle with the rest, trying to make them stand u

When we firstly started working on the tripods and boards for the bridge, everything went great until we had to pretend the grass was the river and try and move the tripods onto the grass which was really the ‘ river’ and reform a bridge. The reason for pretending we were building a bridge above water on what was supposed to be a river was because that was originally the task, although, the water was too deep when we got to the river we were going to build a bridge on so the staff decided as a safety reason that we were going to build the bridge on land.

Although things got hard, we stuck at them and pulled through in the end making a successful bridge with which we all crossed safely.

School For Student Leadership

School for Student Leadership is a Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) initiative offering a unique residential education experience for year nine students. The curriculum focuses on personal development and team learning projects sourced from students' home regions. There are four campuses in iconic locations across Victoria. The Alpine School Campus is located at Dinner Plain in the Victorian Alps. Snowy River Campus is near the mouth of the Snowy River at Marlo in east Gippsland. The third site is adjacent to Mount Noorat near Camperdown in Victoria’s Western District, and is called Gnurad-Gundidj. After consultation with the local aboriginal community, this name represents both the indigenous name of the local area and an interpretation of the statement "belonging to this place". Our fourth and newest campus, Don Valley Campus is located at Don Valley in the Yarra Ranges.
