It was finally the day, the day that we go off on our first expo.

Our expo was going to be 2 days and one night. We left the campus at approximately 10 o’clock and our destination was JB Hut. JB Hut is located around 1.6 km from the campus. We were skiing along using our skills we had gained from all those cross country skiing lessons and after school skiing sessions. We soon stopped for morning tea which was this really awesome raisin thing and scroggin. We eventually got to JB Hut and it was a massive relief when we got there. We dropped out packs off and we were sitting down enjoying the spectacular views. We soon had lunch which was wraps and I reckon food is way better when you’re tired.

From the skills we learnt at “Expo Skills” we managed to pitch our tents up in no time. We got everything ready such as the sleeping bags and the holes we dug out for our ski shoes. The rest of the day was ours so all of us took the opportunity to ski on this really awesome hill. The previous night we just had some snow come down which made it really soft which was good because I stacked tons. We soon went back to our tents when the sun was going down because we had to get dinner ready. My cooking group made Honey Soy Stir Fry and I reckon I took most of the cooking on board. I managed to get dinner out first which is a good thing because my cooking group were starving. Dinner was really nice and it was really warm and toasty from the fire was had in the hut. After dinner we cleaned up then we all sat around the camp fire. We were discussing about the day and the teachers gave us really good advice on how to stay dry and happy at night. Once all the talking was finished we toasted some marshmallows which were a really good conclusion to the day. We then went into our tents, the sleeping bags kept you incredibly warm which was a good thing considering that it was minus 5 degrees outside.

The next day came and I’m sure most of us were sore from the previous day. I didn’t feel that well but breakfast helped a little. We packed up everything and the other core group came when we were about to leave. We then made our way back home and fortunately the ski was mainly downhill. We got back at the campus at approximately 3:15 but the work didn’t end there. We had to put the skis back and we had to unpack our bags. My core group did a pretty good job so we were finished at 4:10. I then had a shower which might I add was the best shower ever. Expo one was a really good experience and I can’t wait for Expo two.
