| At the alpine school students experience something called home sickness… To give you a insight on why homesickness is common at alpine is because us students have never known anything different then what is at home, what we do during our day and the structure we have for ourselves. Now for a whole term, 45 students from all over Victoria are put together with a new structure and new surroundings. We have hardly any communication from home and are not very connected to the outside world. For some, this experience is what they need but most of us students do get homesick. It comes whenever, usually when something reminds us of home or letters are sent to us. To cope, we like to help each other out, grow as a family and comfort each other when in need. At the alpine school we do a lot of different stuff then at home, some of us have never seen snow before and this can also contribute to homesickness. As we gradually move into the middle of our stay in Term Three we get comfortable with the surroundings and our new home, we relax and enjoy every minute of it, so parents out there don’t worry about home sickness, its what we all in someway experience up here and is part of the journey of alpine school. It is not just a physically demanding campus but also very emotionally demanding in every aspect and as students we must cope with them in one way or another, so when we get back we will be very strong students and I thank the alpine school for that.
