Guest Speaker - Deb Gray Print E-mail

We recently had a guest speaker come to the Alpine School to talk to us about how capable each and every one of us is.

The guest speaker that came was Deborah Gray, who was born without arms and shortened legs. Before she began her talk she showed us a movie about a short part of her life, which included things she did, what was precious to her in life and also how capable her body was even though she lacked what most of us have.

After watching the movie she began her talk as we all listened to her carefully. She told us about how it was for her to grow up with so many people staring at her constantly, how she went through school and all the complications there were there and also about her life after she finished school.
After telling us about her life, she began telling us how much of a difference there is when we act differently. When we are acting all grouchy and such, people won’t want to talk or help us much, but when we act kind and nice, people are very willing to help you.

After many of our questions (and also our time spent playing with her two dogs) we said our good bye’s to Ms Gray and headed off to do our own work.
We thank Ms Gray for finding and spending the time to come and talk a very inspiring talk to the Alpine School which has changed the way we think, act and see things.
