COVID-19 Guidelines

The health, care and wellbeing of your son/daughter while with us is always our primary consideration. Given the current covid19 situation, we are specifically operating under the conditions outlined within the DET Operations Guide and must adhere to those guidelines. Hence, in the situation that your son/daughter presents with Covid compatible symptoms, such as fever, cough or sore throat, we are required to follow the guidelines, which means contacting you as parents, then isolating the student in an appropriate space and they must be collected by a parent / carer as soon as possible. The advice is that medical attention should be sought where indicated. These are the guidelines we must abide by, in order to keep everyone safe, so we can operate our school.

Welcome again to the community of the Alpine School Campus. With the Covid lockdown some weeks back now and the return back to full operation, time has flown by and our students and staff have all been very busy.

It seems amazing that more than several weeks have passed already since the forced lockdown and closure. As we indicate to your son or daughter, the time here seems to pass at an accelerating pace. We feel it is something to do with the familiarization of the living situation here. And familiar they certainly seem to be! They associate strongly with this place as their own, where they live, and see it as a key part of their identity. This sense of security or anchoring is fundamental to the students’ sense of well-being and belonging.

School For Student Leadership

School for Student Leadership is a Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) initiative offering a unique residential education experience for year nine students. The curriculum focuses on personal development and team learning projects sourced from students' home regions. There are three campuses in iconic locations across Victoria. The Alpine School Campus is located at Dinner Plain in the Victorian Alps. Snowy River Campus is near the mouth of the Snowy River at Marlo in east Gippsland. The third site is adjacent to Mount Noorat near Camperdown in Victoria’s Western District, and is called Gnurad-Gundidj. After consultation with the local aboriginal community, this name represents both the indigenous name of the local area and an interpretation of the statement "belonging to this place".

Our school community acknowledges the Gunaikurnai, Bidawel and Gundijmara people as the traditional custodians of the land upon which our school campuses are built. We pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, their Elders past and present, and especially whose children attend our school.
