Snow and Cold Weather Conditions Anticipated for Student Departure Day.

Dear all,
I am confident you are all aware of the expected weather this coming Saturday June 28th being the students departure day. I anticipate it will be cold and snowing.

Our students, your children will be ready to be picked up from 10.00am and I know that in an earlier letter I advised it best to pick them up between 10.00am and 12 midday.

I am writing to say that if you arrive later than midday we will understand, as whichever direction you choose to travel whether it be via Bright and Harrietville or via Omeo, you will need to hire chains and possibly need to fit them as you approach the Alpine School. Chains can be hired in Bright at the Shell Service Station or Bright Ski Hire, in Harrietville at Hoys Ski Hire OR in Omeo at Billy’s Service Station.

If you are running late (as in after midday) please feel free to contact the school (03) 5150 8100 so that we can get an indication of where you are and how late you might be, to then pass on to your son or daughter.

Please allow time, drive slowly and with care. When I am driving on snow, I slow down to 40kmh and make sure I never tailgate.

See you on Saturday morning,

Kind regards,
Russell Shem - Campus Principal

School For Student Leadership

School for Student Leadership is a Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) initiative offering a unique residential education experience for year nine students. The curriculum focuses on personal development and team learning projects sourced from students' home regions. There are four campuses in iconic locations across Victoria. The Alpine School Campus is located at Dinner Plain in the Victorian Alps. Snowy River Campus is near the mouth of the Snowy River at Marlo in east Gippsland. The third site is adjacent to Mount Noorat near Camperdown in Victoria’s Western District, and is called Gnurad-Gundidj. After consultation with the local aboriginal community, this name represents both the indigenous name of the local area and an interpretation of the statement "belonging to this place". Our fourth and newest campus, Don Valley Campus is located at Don Valley in the Yarra Ranges.
